Same Time, Different Days

I am changing my class days to Tuesday and Thursday.  It was hard to make the decision to go to two days a week.  I’ve been mulling it over for months.  But since I am now a teacher, that extra morning will really make homeschooling a bit easier and not as rushed.

Can’t wait to see everyone on September 8th!

Summer Break

For various reasons, but mostly just summer being summer, the studio is closed until September 9th.

If you would like to do some yoga before September, just call, text or email me (, and we can schedule private lessons.

Hope everyone has a cool summer!

Summer Break

With so many people going on vacations this time of year, morning classes will stop after July 21st, but will resume on August 18th.  Everyone have a fun break, and remember to breathe…

Tuesday evening classes with Kim will continue as usual.

Announcing a new class – Vinyasa Yoga Flow

Vinyasa Yoga Flow

Tuesday mornings from 8:30-9:30am

~ Starting January 7th for 6 weeks ~

403 E Bluebonnet, Johnson City (under the oaks & across from the M.S. gym)

$10-15 suggested donation/class, or make a one-time donation for all 6 at $50

Class Focus:

The 6 week series will have a focus on turning inward, getting to know your physical body and mental state better.  Classes will cultivate create a loving relationship with your body (positive body image).

Class Description:

Enjoy the unifying experience of body, mind and soul when experiencing a flow from one yoga posture to the next.  Feel the breath move you within each pose, and allow the breath to guide your body to the next pose.  Classes will incorporate poses into a warming sun salutation series and end with a cooling meditative sequence.   The room temperature will usually be between 78-82 degrees.  This class offers a challenging workout for all levels, but some basic knowledge of yoga postures is recommended.  Modifications are offered to allow for a more diverse flow.  Come ready to feel the warmth in your muscles, notice the beating of your heart, be aware of your breath, and sweat out those toxins.  Vinyasa yoga offers a low impact alternative to high impact workouts and sports.  It is a great way to challenge, heal and calm the mind.  A yoga flow is good for teaching us to breath and think more clearly in the midst of not only a physically-challenging position but life in general.  It is often referred to as a moving meditation.

Looking forward to seeing you in class!

New Foundations of Yoga class

I am very pleased to announce the addition of another yoga class!  Beginning this November, Kim Radich – owner of New Leaf, is teaching Foundations of Yoga at In Harmony yoga studio on Thursdays from 10:00-11:15 am.  This class is considered “all levels,” so beginners and experienced yogis/yoginis are welcome.  The following is a description of the class:

Foundations of Yoga

The foundational poses of Hatha yoga are practiced with a focus on proper alignment, discovering your body in the pose, and modifications.  Developing proper muscle memory of alignment in these basic poses will carry over into other postures and more challenging poses reducing the chance of injury.  While practicing the asanas (poses), yogic breathing, drishti (points of focus), bandhas, chakras, mudras and meditation will be discussed and included in the practice.

Is Foundations of Yoga for You?

If you are new to yoga, have limited experience, are a practicing yogi wanting to reconnect with your yoga roots, or enjoy learning all the little details, this class would be a good fit for you.

This January, look forward to an “all levels” Hot Vinyasa yoga evening class.

Closed August, but opening w/ new evening classes in September

Since many people take vacations, or are getting ready for the new school year, I decided to just close shop and restart classes September 2nd.  Yes, this is Labor Day.  I thought offering yoga that day was a great way to thank and honor everyone who works or has worked.

I am very excited to finally offer Gentle Yoga in the evenings (5:30).  I was just waiting for a few people to show some interest.  Well, within about 2 weeks, I found several people who seem interested.  (“Keep spreading the word…”)  I’m also hoping that this class will be at a better time for those that found my morning classes to be too early.

Can’t wait to see you in September!

All new In Harmony yoga studio and Yoga at the Falls

A lot has changed since my last blog entry.  I am now a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher.  I had a wonderful, though exhausting time earning my certification.  The teachers I had at Sana Vida are crazy smart.  Thank goodness they were willing to share their knowledge with us.   It was all I could do to take enough notes and absorb it all.  (I know who is laughing right now.  Actually, it might be anyone who has ever taken a class with me…)  And I definitely consider myself very lucky to have had such wonderful classmates.

After just a few weeks into teacher training, and my students and I freezing in the gym, I decided to open my own studio at my house (403 E. Bluebonnet Ln., JCTX 78636).  As always happens, the remodel of my large, detached garage kept getting bigger and bigger.  With only a few hiccups, it is finally about to be finished.  We are getting the flooring and floor lamps tomorrow.  In Harmony will be completed enough by Wednesday, June 12th, that we will go ahead and hold classes there that day.  Yes, I did say classes with an “s.”

Starting Wednesday, Keith Payne of OM Fire Yoga, will teach Power Yoga, at 5:30 pm. every Wednesday.  (Power Yoga has more aerobic exercises and strenuous movement than one typically associates with yoga.  You will sweat!)  Keith is a fellow Sana Vida teacher training graduate, 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher and has been kind enough to sub for me in the past.  My students really like him, and we will be the 5th yoga studio to have him as a teacher.  Please see Keith’s bio on his webpage.

For myself, I will continue teaching Gentle Yoga at 8:30 am on Mondays and Wednesdays, and due to high demand I am now adding Fridays @ 8:30 am.  I will also teach a yoga class @ 5:30 pm on Tuesdays, beginning June 18th.  Eventually, if there is enough demand, I will add Thursday nights too.  The style of yoga taught in the evenings will be determined by my students and their needs.  So, I’ll let you know what that turns out to be…

Please Note: Johnson City Does Yoga will now be donation-based.

Johnson City Does Yoga at Pedernales Falls

I was reading an article about hiking and yoga, when it struck me.  We have one of the best parks, in the state, down the street from us.  So, anyone and everyone are invited to do “Yoga on the Falls,” at Pedernales Falls State Park, Monday, June 10th, at 9:00 am.  The focus of this class is to allow you to enjoy doing yoga in a beautiful environment.  The class is free in case you have to pay to get into the park.  If you have a park pass, might I suggest a donation to this wonderful park…
